Activated Biochar
Our compost is uniquely crafted from activated biochar made on farm from waste timber, recycled coffee grounds and oyster shells, from nearby cafes and restaurants, manures and brown and green plant matter. The addition of biochar to the compost enhances soil health by retaining water and nutrients, providing a home for beneficial fungi and microbes.

"A rich & complex blend which supported the spring growth of my citrus & avocado immediately! Fantastic that it’s locally-sourced and made too, using waste products like coffee grounds and oyster shells" - Customer feedback
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Works End Farm. We’re passionate about natural farming and protecting the environment
We have a goal to enrich soil while reducing waste. That’s why we source from local businesses, including coffee grounds from Doma Cafe and oyster shells from the Balcony Bar & Oyster Bar, to create our composte. Our sheep and alpacas play a key role in maintaining the health of our land, ensuring we work in harmony with nature.
By focusing on sustainable practices, we’re committed to producing fresh, chemical-free food while nurturing the ecosystem for future generations.
Supporting local means supporting each other.
